In an effort to cater to woman of all body types Nike has just launched it’s first-ever plus-size clothing line. The athletic wear giant has just taken their first leap into this new category and in turn designed to be the perfect fit for sizes 1X to 3X.
The best part is that the plus-size clothing line isn’t comprised of baggy sweatpants or uncomfortable t-shirts. It’s made to fit a curvy woman’s body and keep her comfortable while she gets active.
Shopping for curvy women can be difficult at the best of times, but finding workout wear is even harder as most brands believe people above size 16 don’t exercise; or they just choose not to cater to them. Either way, that’s all about to change thanks to Nike.
By celebrating diversity and promoting body positivity, Nike makes its workout apparel more appealing to a larger audience. By launching their plus-size line the company is sending an important message – everyone deserves to feel good in their body and feel comfortable being active.
The new line will feature tons of workout gear from leggings windbreakers to sweatshirts and sports bras. The apparel will be available in sizes 1X, 2X, and 3X. What’s special about the new line is the clothing isn’t just larger versions of their existing collection. The line is comprised of entirely new pieces designed to flatter women with curves, no matter their size.
“The days where we have to add ‘female’ before ‘athlete’ are over. She is an athlete, period. And having helped fuel this cultural shift, we celebrate these athletes’ diversity, from ethnicity to body shape,” says a press release from the brand.
Nike has elected to celebrate diversity and promote body positivity, which is something we can all root for. It will be interesting to see how far they take this new line and how it received by consumers. Something tells me they’ll love it.
